Bicknells Coaches provide a variety of services from “Private Coach Hire”, “Corporate Coach Hire” and “School Services” through to “Wedding “ transport, as well as a comprehensive and exciting programme of Day Trips around the United Kingdom.
Formerly known as, Bicknells Hire Services, the company was renamed Bicknells Coaches in 2006 after an acquisition buy-out on the retirement of Harold Bicknell. Originally established during the 1920’s, Bicknells have been maintaining a long tradition of offering superlative coach services to the public and private sectors ever since and continue to the day in upholding those values.
Drivers
The spearhead of our organisation is of course our drivers, “You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression”, as the saying goes and we pride ourselves that our drivers, are not only agents but ambassadors for the company, providing the levels and types of services, that ensures you will always be a satisfied returning customer.
Our investment in staff development, enabling them to be more proficient in their job role, is one of our primary considerations. The Learning and Skills Council’s (LSC) Train to Gain service is the organisation responsible for making England better skilled! Here at “Bicknells” we insist that all our drivers are “Train to Gain” certified, ensuring that they have the right skills to do the best job possible.
Not with standing their qualifications, all drivers also undergo a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure check and are compliant with the CRB’s Code of Practice. The CRB is an executive agency of the home office set-up to help organisations whose staff of volunteers work with children or venerable adults, making safer recruitment decisions, with you the customer in mind.

Operations Staff
Our operations staff are tasked with making sure that your requirements are carried out with the right driver and the right vehicle. They are tasked with making sure the drivers work patterns fit with all the driving hours regulation to keep you safe on your journey.
Engineering Staff
The company operates its own workshop and engineering facility and has a team of dedicated professionals to ensure that all the company’s vehicles are kept to the very highest standards whilst on the road.
The confederation of passenger transport UK (CPT) is recognised by Government as the voice of the coach, bus and light rail industries and is the focus for consultation and negotiation on national and international legislation, local regulations, operational practices and engineering standards. Bicknells Coaches are and have been long-term members of this governing body maintaining the guidelines laid down for the benefit of its customers and client base.
Low Emission Vehicles (LEZ)
The Bicknells fleet of coaches vehicles meet or exceed the LEZ requirements.
In order to reduce pollution in and around central London, all coaches operating in the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ), an area inside the M25, must meet new regulations governing particle exhaust emissions set by Transport for London (TfL).
We operate a well maintained modern fleet of coaches that comply with the these new emission standards, therefore reducing our carbon footprint.
Act on CO2
Coaches are the greenest, most carbon efficient mode of public transport available today. At a time when the government is setting tough targets for CO2 emission reductions, coach travel makes financial as well as environmental sense.
